Reflection: AU PRSSA’s First Vice President of Alumni Relations
It’s never too late to join AU PRSSA and get involved — you can take it from me. I joined at the start of my junior year (fall 2019) and was immediately interested in joining our student-run firm, Eagle Communications. I loved the opportunity to work with real clients and gain experience, so in spring, I ran for Firm Director. As Firm Director, I started our first Twitter, recruited one of our current clients, and adapted to working with our members and clients remotely.
As I start my senior year, I’m thrilled to be a part of AU PRSSA’s Eboard once more as our very first Vice President of Alumni Relations. We’re lucky here at American University to have such a wealth of alumni experience and perspectives to learn from, and I’m excited to pioneer a process that supports our current members and allows AU PRSSA to continue to be a resource for members after graduation. Be on the lookout for our alumni spotlights and upcoming mentorship program!
Like any other AU club or organization, being a part of the e-board is a huge commitment. Many of us are juggling classes, other clubs, internships, and other responsibilities. However, AU PRSSA is also an incredible learning experience and offers so many opportunities in leadership, networking, and launching our careers. No matter where you are in your education so far, if you’re interested in public relations, AU PRSSA has a lot to offer.
