Barbara Harris Scholarship Recipient Spotlight

I am thrilled to be the newest member of PRSSA and the Fall 2020 recipient of PRSSA’s Barbara Harris Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship. As a Black woman, diversity, inclusion, and equity are extremely important to me and the Barbara Harris Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship represents the value of influential Black pioneers in the PR field. This inspires me and allows me the opportunity to build relationships and connections with others who also foster these values. True diversity and inclusion focuses on creating a space for a wide variety of stories to be heard and understood. As young PR professionals, diversity and inclusion allows us to enter the professional world with an open mind and the ability to appropriately represent and advocate for everyone in all spaces. Most of all, as a new member of PRSSA, I am looking forward to utilizing networking opportunities and shaping my future career through professional development. Storytelling has always been a passion of mine and I am aiming to be a PR professional in the entertainment industry. The need for media representation has always fueled my career passions and it is my goal to provide inspiring, and accurate representation for underrepresented communities. Emphasizing diversity and inclusion for my future career will allow me to have a seat at the table and provide opportunities to others to follow in my footsteps.
