Can you believe the semester is almost over? We have five weeks left before finals and spring started two weeks ago. With just over a month left, don’t forget to take some time between papers and studying to check out some of the awesome events happening on campus and in the city. Here are my recommendations:

1. KPU and SOC Present: Jake Tapper
CNN anchor and chief Washington correspondent Jake Tapper is known for being a trusted source of political news. On Tuesday, April 4th he is visiting American University for a discussion that will be moderated by professor and political commentator Jane Hall. If you want to hear his insight and what makes his job exciting, Doyle/Forman Theater by 6:30 PM.

2. KPU and CAS Present: Common
Grammy nominated rapper, activist, and children’s book writer, Common will be at American University on Wednesday, April 5th to talk about his work. If you love his music or the causes he’s worked on, you don’t want to miss this event. The event is from 8:00 to 9:00 PM in Bender Arena. You can reserve your tickets here.

3. AU PRSSA Presents: a Day in the Life, Real Stories from Agency Insiders
Do you want to know what life is like inside a PR agency? How do PR pros come up with ideas and inspiration? How did they land their dream jobs and how can you? Four pros from four different agencies will answer those questions and more on Thursday, April 13th at 8:00 PM in Hughes Formal Lounge. Get your tickets here.

4. Washington Nationals College Night
For their Friday, April 14th game, the Nationals are offering $14 and $20 tickets to students. This is a great chance to get cheap baseball tickets and see the Nationals play (and hopefully beat) the Phillies! The games starts at 4:05 PM at Nationals Park. You can reserve your tickets here.

5. SUB Presents: AMFest
AUSG SUB teamed up with a few other student organizations to bring to campus an arts and music festival. The festival is on Saturday, April 15th and will feature acts from American University and the DMV area. This event celebrates music, arts, and culture and will be held at the Ampitheatre from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

6. 2017 DC Chocolate Festival
If you love chocolate, head to the Washington Marriott Wardman Park on Saturday, April 29th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM for chocolate tastings and educational mini-workshops. You’ll get to taste chocolate from local and international creators. If your mouth is watering just thinking about it, get your tickets here.

7. Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors
By now you’ve probably seen everyone’s Instagram posts from the Infinity Mirrors exhibit at the Hirshorn Museum. Each room in the exhibit has a cool, funky layout. Tickets sell out really fast, but they’re released every Monday here. Get your ticket in time for May 14th, which is the last day the exhibit will be up.
